Question number one: there was some mention a few days ago of an extreme low/ambient light calculator on a website... does anyone still have the link?

So I don't have to carry around a laptop with a wireless internet link, the calculator I use is contained in the "Kodak Pocket Photoguide." They're less than $15, contain a wealth of information (one of which is the calculator you're looking for), made of very sturdy materials, spiral bound, and fit into a shirt pocket. Readily found in nearly all camera stores. All you need is a small penlight to read it with when "on location" in the middle of the night (there's one of those in the camera bag also).

The last question i just thought of is on my Winder 2. I note that my cable release does not screw into the winder - is there any way to use a release with the Winder 2?

Yes. However, it's a simple switch. The jack next to the shutter release button on the winder is a straightforward sub-miniature phone jack. The remote release made by Olympus is a simple "normally open" momentary switch that shorts the sub-mini phone plug ring and tip together when the button is pushed. If you're handy with a small soldering iron, you can make one in about an hour with just a few parts from Radio Schlock. Total cost would be less than $10 (not counting soldering iron).
