Freider,

Replies below. I hope it will give you a better idea of an appropriate
assortment of lenses to recommend. I know the 28 f2 has better resolution
than the SC 24 f2.8, but I don't have a clue if the 28 is wide enough. I
also don't have a clue about the longest focal length to use.

Thanks much.

The general aim of the trip for us is to see and experience new things.
We'll be traveling by tour bus. The nightly stops will be Frankfurt,
Baden-Baden, Engelberg (2 nights), Lausanne, Zermatt (2 nights), St. Moritz,
Innsbruck, Vienna (2 nights), Salzburg, Munich, and Frankfurt (again).
There are numerous stops along the way (Heidelberg, Lake Titisee, Lucerne,
Geneva, Lake Como, Berchtesgaden, King Ludwig's castle, Rothenberg to name a
few). For this trip, I guess my interests are actually in the order you
asked: scenery, architecture/history, and the lives of the locals. You
clearly don't get a whole lot of the latter when on a group tour, but we
really enjoyed being able to wander around Venice, Florence, Sorrento,
Delphi, and Athens on our last trip.

I don't envy them those decisions at all. I just need enough of you to tell
me not to take everything. :-)
