Sorry!  Confusing terminology, my fault.  Read that as "0.5 to 1 bar width"
of overlap.

If you've got other OM's, you can compare them with a suspect body, like the
OM-2s in question -- the overlap will vary slightly from camera to camera,
but with obvious side-to-side exposure problems like the ones described
(completely dark on one side), it should be obviously off.
