Thanks for asking the question and then sharing this information. Guess
storing them in the same tool chest I keep the rest of the gear in is OK
after all.

Now, if wife/kids would just quit griping about the bin full of film in the
fridge.......

Prompted by some recent discussions about storing 625, 357 batteries, I sent
Varta an e-mail:

"What is the optimum method (room temperature, refrigerate compartment,
freezer compartment) to store various batteries (Hg, AgO, alkaline,
lithium, NiCd, NiMH, ...)? Thanks in advance."

And here is their reply:

-------------------------------------

"Dear Mr. Ling,

The recommended storage temperature for batteries is at room
temperature (20C).

If you can keep the batteries at lower temperatures, let say between 0
and 20C, will not hurt them and you may gain some extra shelf life (a
couple of percents per month, function of chemistry and temperatures).
Also an other very important factor to be considered for storage
conditions is the humidity: higher humidity, faster self discharge rates
or even leakage problems.
