Jez,

if I remember correctly, what I actually did is calibrate vuescan for Scala using Ed's advanced workflow suggestion at

http://www.hamrick.com/vuescan/html/vuesc11.htm#topic10

You can do that easily too so you'll get settings for the exact roll you were using (don't forget to save settings ;)) Maybe some very slight b/w point correction afterwards, but very little if any. Mind you, I was using version 7.4 when I did this and still am using it, because the first versions of 7.5 somehow gave strange colours. I see he is now at 7.5.17 with many things improved, so I might try that next time. I can just recommend though to keep a working copy of vuescan when upgrading....

How do you expose the Scala? I was told by a pro to use it at 400 ASA and push it one stop to avoid too soft negs. Depends on the motives I guess, but I have the impression that for scanning it can be helpful to have less soft slides.

Just my 2 eurocents :)

What a great resource this list is! I'm going to try your settings this
weekend.
Did you need to do much curve adjustment afterwards?
Many thanks

Jez,

I did a lot of Scalas with the Acer and vuescan. f.i.

www.doro-foto.de/galerie180 or /galerie300

I saved the settings in scala.ini and put in on
www.doro-foto.de/scala.ini

Just copy it to some texteditor, copy it into your vuescan dir and load
it in vuescan.
Maybe it works for you...

Nice to know that I'm not the only one who struggles with B&W scans.
