Mine is called a lens-cap.  Between a lenscap and a lens hood,
I've managed to survive through the years.  In fact, I find that
I'm more apt to damage the lens putting filters on and off
(black and white and polorizer filters), than anything else.

Skylight filters are like boxers. Some prefer boxers, some
prefer briefs.  Some, oh never mind...
