You know, it's kind of ironic. I was leery of removing the mount without
asking first and that's not my normal way with mechanical stuff. I mean,
here I am, a consumer electronic tech with a quarter century of
experience and factory training from over a dozen manufacturers and have
no fear dissecting video camcorder mechanisms, etc. down to bits. I do
all my own car maintenance. Yet, for some reason, when it came to the
thought of turning a single screw on the big white beast I froze up and
thought I had better ask first.
The lock pin is quite likely worn and my hope is that the one off the
50/1.8 junker will not be so worn. The notch the lock secures into on
both the 1.4XA and OM-4t body also have some wear. It seems that when
both worn parts are mated that locking action is not secure. The 350/2.8
locks fine to my other bodies. The problem started out with just the
1.4XA and the 350/2.8. Only recently has it evolved to the OM-4t body
without the converter in between.
Thank you for the reassurance. I was afraid of little parts flying the
moment I removed the screws and the last thing I need at this point of
the season is my most often used film lens going down.
