<< lease give us a heads up when you have the film photos online so I
can go look at them as well. Good luck at
Nascar at Fontana this weekend. Turns out I will be doing some race
photography this weekend as well...a friend who is an illustrator for
Drive Magazine has gotten me photo access for the Good Guys Nationals at
Sears Point. I have Provia in the fridge ready to go, and will be
breaking out the 200, 300, and my testing my "new" 100mm from Mark Lloyd
and my "new" OM-2S. >>

I'll do that. I hoped to do that scanning last night but my son's little
league game ran late. By the way, does one really need a D1X,
80-200/2.8, and fast wide pro zoom to shoot little league games?! This
guy has been out using that kit several times now. And no, he's not
shooting for the league AFAIK (I am with the E-10 though). Anyway, I'll
send a note with the link once scanning is done. Some of the E-10 shots
from last Sunday I think are real gems too. There's a local pro, who
shoots Nik*n film gear and just got a Can*n D30, who at the last two
events shooting together has noticed my E-10 and claims it is "too slow
for motorsports" and "how are you getting results with that?!" (Of
course he also scoffs at my "antique" OM stuff too, whatever.) I just
smile and not say much. I have found that by treating the E-10 like a
semi-manual camera that the only issue of "speed" all boils down to my
ability to handle the camera and make the most of the tool at hand. For
example: http://motorsportvisions.com/lbgp02d/pages/P4141381.htm With
how close I was to Jimmy Vasser's car and how fast he was going when
this was taken it was not "camera speed" that captures this moment in
time. (I tend not to like clipping parts of the cars, not my style, but
editors and photo buyers like the style so I'm playing with it a bit.)

Fontana is not 'till next weekend. This weekend it is more little league
shooting, a lot of scanning, and hopefully getting out to do some
sailing Sunday. Have fun at Sears Point!!! I gather they must have the
new strip in? I'm told I won't recognize the place when I get back there
for ALMS next month (which, BTW, you should try and get to
Stephen--sportscars are very photogenic). I haven't been there since
last November and know a lot of work has been done there. For the
dragsters all three of those lenses should be great, as will the -2S.
Last weekend at Long Beach I never was able to pull out the big white
one (due to location issues stemming from the credential goof up) so the
OM-4t remained as a rear lens cap for the heavy beast I hauled around
all day. All the film I shot with my trusty old OM-2S that I bought for
myself for my birthday in 1986 and the Tamron 80-200/2.8. The cosmic
connection in all this was my first Long Beach visit was with that
camera when it was brand new and that Long Beach race was my favorite
CART driver's first career win on my birthday. Michael Andretti won
again on my birthday this last Sunday 16 years later for his 42nd win
and there I was shooting with the same camera. Makes one pause and
reflect a moment...the press conference after the race was erie. I also
remembered that I really am still fond of the OM-2S despite using the
-4t more often these days. Take that clean OM-1 of yours just in case of
course ;-) I'm looking forwards to your results. Have fun and stay safe
Stephen!
