[OM] Advice sought - photos for publication

Subject: [OM] Advice sought - photos for publication

Back in January 1972 I shot a roll of Kodachrome slides of the re-named
~84,000 ton Queen Elizabeth ex-Cunard liner burning in Hong Kong
harbour. A few samples can be seen at:

All my photos were taken within a hour or two of the first breaking out
and despite being on scene in a small boat for several hours there were
next to no other boats close by so my photos are most likely quite
exceptionally rare. Furthermore, they have never been published anywhere
other than on my web site. The slides are still in excellent condition.

I have recently been approached via email by a gentlemen in Germany who
has a publishing contract for a book which will tell "...the story of
all four Cunard Queens up to the new Queen Mary 2, which will debut next
year. My book will be published at the same time the liner goes on her
maiden voyage."

He is asking to use some of my photos in his book and I am wondering
what would be a fair reward for me. Does one ask for a sum of money, and
if so what might be reasonable, or might an autographed first edition
copy of the book be more reasonable.

All and any advice will be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks

John Hudson
