I don't know about digital. Depends on what he's doing . . . numbers of images at one time and print sizes. Digital isn't the answer for *everything* yet. I've crunched the numbers. Systems that seriously *equal* 35mm film capabilities require a horrendous amount of money. One can buy an entire medium format system: bodies, lenses, film backs, etc. for the same price.

If having a system with continuing OEM support is an overriding factor, I'd be looking at the Nik*n F3, FM3a and FM2n bodies with Nikk*r AIS lenses. They're still in production and it's likely they will continue to be for at least some number of years. Yes, it's heresy, but that's why I mentioned the "continuing OEM support" caveat.
