At 11:48 4/30/02, Thanasis Evagelopoulos asked:
I have two questions regarding my OM4Ti batteries:

- How many films approximately should I expect to shoot with a set of two fresh SR44W batteries, under normal ambient temperatures?

A better method would be to measure it in months. It can vary greatly depending on whether you leave the "beeper" turned on, how much you use the self-timer, and how much you use the viewfinder illuminator. The first will drain the batteries slightly faster, but the latter two can drain batteries quickly if often used. I get about 9-10 months, sometimes a year, from a set of #357 watch cells in an OM-4 with original circuit. Burn rate is 75-100 rolls of film per year.

- If I keep the shutter speed dial ring of the camera at mechanical 1/60 or B when not in use, will the camera continue to drain the batteries at a low level, just as it does when the display is blank?

There is still a very small battery drain. It immediately blanks the viewfinder display and illuminator, and prevents both from being accidentally activated. If the camera sits in a bag very long with something depressing the viewfinder illuminator button, it will drain the batteries very, very quickly (measure it in hours). It keeps things like that from happening.
