Hi folks,

I just got the first images back from my 'new' Zuiko 135 f/3.5 ex Mark Lloyd.

What a versatile lens !!

At the top of this URL is a close-up taken using the Zuiko 40cm close-up
auxiliary lens screwed on the front.

http://homepages.caverock.net.nz/~bj/photography/zuikoholics/recent.htm

Enjoy.

It takes very nice normal tele shots at a length I haven't used in decades,
which is a whole new ball game for me, and also goes very well with the
close-up tubes.

And while I'm on about lenses a few other recent findings in the last roll of
film.

My neglected Zuiko 100~200 f/5, which I had put to one side for ages since it
is a rather fragile piece of machinery ( I'm told that the glass elements are
held in place by plastic retaining rings, and I know it doesn't take much of a
jolt to knock than ski-wiff) used with the OM4Ti can yield images to rival or
better my Zuiko 100 f/2. I used it at 200mm, to see what I thought of images
at that length since I have been toying with the idea of getting a Zuiko 200/4,
and am very pleased with it.

I also did a rough comparative test of three lenses (all Zuikos) photographing
a small fern plant so as to fill the frame.

The 100/2 was sharp at the distance of 0.8 m, but even stopped down to
f/11 and f/8 the DOF is pitifully tiny so most of the image is fuzzy.

One of the 50mm f/1.8 MIJ lenses carefully focussed at 0.5 m, was not sharp
at all which is what I have come to suspect from this particular piece of glass.

The 40mm f/2 seems (without trying the image enlarged) to be very sharp at
0.4 m, and at f/11 the whole plant is sharp - not just a slice through it..

I'm beginning to appreciate the 40mm f/2 even more.

Cheers, Brian
