Ask yourself this question: who could stay in business allowing
people to wait two years before making a claim of a defective
repair job? What sort of reserves would he have to carry in order
to guard against that huge uncertainty?
Here's my experience with a failed repair from John Hermanson. I
sent in my camera for repair, he repaired it fairly quickly, but
the repair failed, repeating the original failure. He didn't
quibble at all about the warranty or whether the second failure
was a failed repair or something new wrong with my camera. He
took it back for re-repair, no questions asked, and got it back
to me faster the second time than he did the first, and it worked
flawlessly then, and still works flawlessly today, hundreds of
rolls of film later.
But then I reported the failure the day after I discovered it,
and sent back the camera as soon has he agreed to take it back.
If I'd sat on it for more than two years, I would have been too
embarassed to ask for warranty work, and would have sent it in as
a new repair.
