Subject: [OM] Mix & match

I have a question for those of you who use 2+ camera bodies.
Someone just posted on a comparison between two lenses and
he noted that he used 2 different OM-4Ti bodies. I am curious
about the general consensus. If you use multiple camera bodies,
are they the same? Or do you use a manual and an automatic?
I'm not talking about the case where you buy a spare body on
ebay, but where you use multiple bodies on a regular basis. I
can see an obvious advantage to having multiple bodies of the
same model (no confusion), but what about the reverse case?

Matt, I have done both. For years, I had two OM-1s, that I would use interchangeably, unless I was in a workshop, where I would put B&W film in one and Color in the other. I recently acquired another 0M-1 and a OM-2S, and now I use the OM-2S interchangeably with one of my OM-1's (the one that's working very sweetly having just come back from a CLA by, yes, John H. One of the three is out on loan and the other one is due for a CLA).

I use the OM-2S for the most part, as I like the added accuracy of OTF metering, and the provision for using a spot meter for backlit subjects, as well as the capability of TTL/OTF flash control. On the other hand, sometimes I shoot with my OM-1. I shot racing motorcycles with it part of the day today as it has a brighter focussing screen (a "2-4" screen that that John installed as part of my CLA) than the OM-2S, and shooting with a big lens, a 2-4 screen is easier to focus than a than whatever the stock screen that comes with an OM-2S (looks like an 1-13, though I don't know if if is).

But you should now that there is another reason that I continue to shoot with the OM-1. While I like the OM-2S, and it looks very sexy all decked out all-black, I just love the feel of us ing the OM-1. Its so smooth and feels so good to use, that I will continue to use for that, even if I had no other reason....
