My OD gave me a prescription for my eye cup and offered to cut it for me
but the cost was quite high, in the $50 range if I recall. So I decided
to live with the -2 instead of a -1.75. Not a -7.5 so I don't know about
the thickness issue. Be sure the doctor knows the apparent focussing
distance to the screen. But what I actually ended up doing was to remove
the rubber hood from the eyecup and to just use the remaining part with
my glasses. This allows you to get close enough with your eye and it
still blocks quite a bit of stray light. Combine this with a cap with a
brim and you're set. Make sure that your glasses allow you to focus
accurately at the proper distance. (And Virginia, please correct me if
necessary)
