On an actual SERIOUS note...

When being chased by a bear, never run uphill. Because of their front shoulder structure, bears can run FASTER uphill than they can downhill, so run DOWNHILL. (been there...)

Black bears will pretty much never attack you unless either they feel threatened or you get in between a mother and her cubs. Grizzly's, on the other hand, will attack you for no reason at all.

My advice in Grizzly Country: Carry a bog-bore bush rifle (.30 caliber or bigger). Shoot first, ask questions later. DO NOT LIE DOWN AND PLAY DEAD!!! Grizlys are scavengers & meat eaters & will EAT YOU. Climbing a REALLY STURDY tree and weilding a can of mace or pepper spray might help too, but I'd trust shooting iron alot more.

If you ever decide to shoot a grizzly with your OM gear, I'd suggest a 600mm lens at least, possibly with a 2XA TC attached, from INSIDE an SUV that is left running.

Snip, snip...

Thanks to all for the info on bears .. quite interesting to see all that
misinformation.
Here is the truth:
