But aren't most (all?) lens mounts made of metal?  It would be
really difficult to shave metal with an X-acto knife.  A
better solution would be to use a large drill bit for metal
and try to bevel the edges of the screw hole.  But make sure
you don't drill so deep that you ruin the screw hole.
