I recently acquired a Retina Ia. It has no meter, and the old Zeiss Ikophot
meter I have is not accurate. I put some 200 asa print film in the Retina
and using the Sunny 16 rule shot the role outdoors. I used a SWAG to
determine my exposures in low light situations as in shade and under roofs
or deep shadow. The results were really quite good. I find that if I
overexpose a bit with the print film the shadows are fine. The roll in this
case ended up with negatives of almost uniform density. The processor had
no difficulty getting nice prints.

So, Sunny 16 and a little experience will see you through in most outdoor
situations if you use print film. Might be much more challenging with slide
film.
