Here's what the "book" says:

Leakage (power switch "off") -- 5 micro-amps or less
Standby (power switch "on", display off) -- 700 mircoamps or less
LCD display on -- 150 milliamps or less
During auto-loading -- Average 600 milliamps or less*
During winding and shutter charge -- Average 1300 milliamps or less*
During rewinding -- Average 550 milliamps or less*
During Zooming -- Average 650 milliamps or less^
During AF operation -- Average 350 milliamps or less^
During AF Illuminator operation -- Average 400 milliamps or less (includes
self-timer
operating time)

* -- with Neopan SS 24exp. film
^ -- with lens held horizontally

Suggest they check the rewind button -- it can be pressed in too far and may
lodge askew.  It
should look "round".
