Hi, Nils. Welcome to the list. Follow Dreammoose's advice and get your
50mm f3.5 macro lens fixed. It is NOT "just a 50mm".

As to the missing detent ball from your 28mm I think you may have
photographed it next to the 50mm macro. Look to the far right of this
shot http://www.nils-frohberg.de/oly/PIC00010.JPG and you'll see what
appears to be a little gold colored ball sitting on a line drawn from
the center of the lens through the "Y" in Olympus. Looks to be about
the right size and color for a mini ball bearing covered with grease.
It fits into a spring loaded hole. Put a teeny dab of grease on the
hole to hold the ball in position while you slip the aperture ring over
the top. Check the inside of the ring for the detents (grooves) and
slide one of the grooves over the ball to minimize the distance that the
spring must be depressed for the ring to slide over the ball.

You may want to clean the ball first with some solvent since it may have
picked up some dirt or fibers from the carpet. It helps to work over a
hand towel or over a cookie sheet so the little ball doesn't get away
from you again... assuming you find it.

Good luck,
