Hi Gang,

Well, the Zuikoholicism has taken a severe turn and I need some advice on
pricing, etc.

Firstly, one of my housemates purchased a load of stuff the other day
including some Olympus stuff. He will be selling it on Ebay, if I don't
want it. I could use some advice on what it would be worth paying for it -
especially in UK as I know some things vary greatly in value between US and
UK.

Of the many bits of kit he got, he acquired an OM1-TR (after market Winder)
AND an Olympus Motor Drive 1 AND an 18v Control Grip for the MD1 for the
grand sum of 8GBP (about 12 USD ?). Does this qualify as a FANG ? I'm not
sure, but I think it may well be !! The MD1 is in very good condition, but
the control grip is well used. The catch that holds the batteries in is
worn, so you have to hold or tape them in to make contact Also the lock that
stops the trigger on the control grip firing is missing. Any ideas on fixes
for this, or where I can get a new Lock switch ? John H ? Anyone ? Also I
would like to get the Relay Cord that goes with it, so will keep searching
the evil one !

Second lot of kit he got was an OM30 which appears to be in good working
order. Good condition cosmetically, usual little scrapes on the plastic
surface, but none that actually scratch through the "paint". What would be
a good price for this ? He paid 40GBP I think (including a couple of
lenses, which turned out to be fungus farms !)

So, opinions on this lot would be good. I have no intention of ripping him
off for any of it. He bought the stuff with the intention of selling on the
evil one, so see no reason why he should get any less from me - except maybe
a little less for the lack of hassle.

And on another subject regarding assisting my zuikoholicism, I have finally
figured where all you US guys get all your gear from. I had been wondering
for ages, as OM gear is relatively sparse here in the UK (compared to what
you seem to get). Ebay UK has a few items but no great amount and rarely
any bargains. Then instead of going to Ebay.co.uk and choosing items
available to the UK, I went to ebay.com ..... well, there's a difference !!
Absolutely LOADS of kit, and some relative bargains too !! I am now
seriously investigating how I can get kit from there to here without a load
of hassle. Any advice from anyone ? How do we not get clobbered by
customs, then clobbered by the GB post office with a charge for putting it
through customs for you !!

Anyway, any advice from experienced transatlantic purchasers would be
appreciated, including the best way to pay.

Right, gotta go soothe the Zuikoholicism.

Cheers,

Jon Mitchell
