Actually, it isn't that simple.  There are plenty of both "Look Right" AND
"Look Left" painted on the streets.  London has tons of one-way streets that
are crossed by fairly busy pedestrian routes.  Just stepping from the curb
(kerb?) is no indication that you should "Look Right".  There may be a
slightly higher risk to continental Europeans and those from the left side
of the Atlantic, but anyone unfamiliar with streets in London can get a
nasty surprise.
