No suggestions for your friends, but I know how they feel about the expense.
A friend of mine took about 120 shots on his digital camera at a party we
had, my wife wanted *all* of them printed to put in our album. I worked out
the cost and it was about the same for materials (paper & ink) to print the
digital images (single print) as for film, processing and 2 sets of prints
from my local lab (and they're not cheap !). I also didn't think it was a
productive use of my time sitting in front of the PC printing all that
stuff.
