Hi,

As I said a few days ago I still have PX625 Hg
on my OM-1n body.
It seems that MR-9 Zinc/Air not last very long.
And I found that about criscam MR-9 replacement kit :

about a N*k*n F camera.

What are your experiences about MR-9 replacement kit
from criscam or others sources on OM-1n bodies ?

Could we choose the type (SR44 or SR43) of the battery
to place in these MR-9 replacement kits ?

Both John Lind and I posted on this topic a couple days ago. I guess you didn't see it?

First, to be clear: the MR-9 has no application with zinc-air batteries. Zinc air batteries are already about 1.4 volts, which is sufficiently close for some people to use as a replacement for the Hg cells. The MR-9 is a casing with a diode in it that with a 1.5 volt silver-oxide cell and produces an output (1.35 v) suitable for running the meter of an OM-1/1N.

The type of MR-9 units being sold now take a SR43/386 cell. Older units were designed to take an SR44/357 cell. I believe that the newer MR-9 units are brushed metal, whereas the older MR-9's that take the SR44 are polished. I am still trying to get confirmation of this.

(To make matters more confusing, I learned from a Japanese friend who went to the manufacturer's website -- not Criscam, which is a distributor -- that there are at least three different MR-9's which have been made. In addition to the two mentioned, there was apparently a third which must have replaced 1.5 volt Hg cells. So this unit probably has no diode. I have never seen one.)

If you buy a MR-9 new, it will say on the package to use an SR43 battery. If you buy one used, I am guessing that if it is brushed metal finish, it takes an SR43. If it is polished metal, it takes a SR44.

Perhaps someone else who has both will confirm or deny this?
