I would agree that often no filter is better than any filter. But for the times when I want one, these are the ones I am going to invest in from now on.

Does anyone actually test their filters? I do confess to mounting a "protection filter" occasionally, though I mainly remove them for careful shooting. But I have "with/without" comparison samples for my protection filters. So far I have not been able to detect any differences with or without with these filters using my normal evaluation methods (5x loupe AKA Zuiko 50/1.8 and light table).

I need to do the same thing with my pola filters, which in many situations are on the lenses far more than UV filters.

Gary Reese's tests of clear filters suggested that they are sort of a "pig in a poke" for quality control. Considering what they are used for, I would recommend testing them immediately upon receipt and keeping them only if they pass muster. What that means for one person may be different for someone else, but I am not prepared to say this brand is better than that, only that this filter is good enough for me (or not).
