About a month ago or so my LS-30 died. It will do a preview, but won't
do a scan any more. I am guessing that the step motor is messed up. So
I decided to upgrade and went with the LS-4000.
I spent a couple of weeks scouring the net for what to go with. The
search finally narrowed down to the LS-4000 and the Cannon 4000.
I liked the price of the Canon and from the reviews it sounded like the
the optics sound a little better than the Nikon. Sharp from center to
edge.
But things that I didn't like about the Canon, a lot of people reported
noise in the scans and its use of USB instead of firewire. So I decided
to pay a little more and went Nikon again.
