Well, while printing in "mass-production mode" I bend my entire
photographic focus towards keeping the general consumer in a state of
"happiness". Some of the things that go through that priunter I try to
banish from memory. I keep telling myself that people want pictures to
document memories, or to showcase areas of their lives, etc. My slogan is:
Consumers take pictures, Photographers make pictures.
It is this phrase that enables me to seperate my photography from general
lab work. I am fortunate that many people often have "real" work that needs
my attention. My interest in Photography over the past little while has
really allowed me to learn quite a bit about it. This is the reason I was
hired. I bring a some knowledge of how to make (or rather take) pictures as
opposed to developing them. I am enjoying helping people with the abstract,
offering advice on lighting, film choice etc. I am glad to be working in a
consumer lab, it gives me the opportunity to help people understand that
Kodak Max film is not the best for portraits in the Bahamas (I've heard
this).

Thanks for all the welcoming comments,

              Josh Lohuis
