Can you at least sketch out how to achieve the multi-spot? On the C-3000, you push a button to get it to the spot mode. Are there provision for highlight and shadow bias?

Hi Richard,

There's an Auto Exposure Lock setting in the 3rd menu. Under that option you can select either Off, Single, or Multi. If you select "Multi" the camera will read and store the exposure when you press the OK button. It will store and average up to eight readings - it stops accepting readings after eight are stored. If you are in the spot mode then spot readings are used. I believe the multi-spot metering will work in program, aperture priority, shutter priority, and manual metering modes although I haven't tried the manual mode yet.

I haven't found a shutter/highlight feature yet but, of course, the C-3040 has a standard feature that's much better than what's available on the OM-4/4t. You just look at the image on the monitor as you compose the picture with the spot on the important part of the scene and bump the exposure compensation up or down to correct the color as desired. Instead of the gross adjustments that's available with the hi-light/shadow buttons on the OMs you can adjust in 1/3 stop increments and get instant feedback.

Later,
Johnny
