Either Ilford or Kodak filters will work -- they both graduate from yellow
to purple. Theoretically you should use Kodak filters with Kodak paper and
vice versa, but, having wound up with both sets somehow, the only difference
I can see is that contrast grade 3 on one is 3.2 on the other, or something
like that. I suspect you'd need some sort of analyzing tool to tell the
difference -- and in practise, I don't think I'm ever going to say "I know I
want this at contrast grade X", print it up, and stop there, so you'll end
up trying different levels of contrast either way.

Beyond that, it depends on what sort of enlarger you're using -- some of
them take filters in a tray above/below the film, some don't have any sort
of allowance for filters (mine, for instance), so I just hold the filter
under the lens with one hand and use the other to turn the enlarger on and
off. It's not convenient, but it works. (If you get your filter set new, it
should come with some sort of attachment device to hold things in place --
the ones I have are missing those bits and I've not got around to making one
up yet)
