There is a lot of good things said about the Acer/Benq Scanwit 2720s. I
have one and I am very pleased with it. It is available in the UK for about
GBP185 which is about 275Euros. It is reasonably well built, does 2700ppi
and is supported by Vuescan if you wish to use that. I find the supplied
Miraphoto does all I need. The Scanwit also has a dedicated Mailing List.

thought of the Min*lta Dimage Scan Dual II but recently I found that at
least in europe UMAX offers a nice model called 'PowerLook 270' ('plus'
version with digital ICE image correction and calibration slide). Both had
good reviews in photo and imaging magazines but UMAX ships with SilverFast.
