Well the comment is unscientific (no loupes used), but I think the pictures
are sharper. This is based on viewing slides projected to about the size of
a piece of a sheet of bristol board (the stuff school kids use for poster
projects). Also, there were some shots of the same scene taken at the same
time with the OM2s + Zuiko or Tokina ATX, and the RC ones are just a little,
well, nicer. I guess that isn't much help, but I'm not up on all the terms
to describe results, and besides, sometimes I think the terms are used
differently by people on this list.
But there is just something about the pictures, that they just sort of stand
out. I'm not saying there is a lot of difference, or even that I could tell
them all apart if they were shuffled together with the ones from the slr's
before I got to view them.
I think part of the difference may be that with the RC I am almost always
dealing with smaller apertures, the "easier shots", and of course, a leaf
shutter that produces no vibration, and a semi-wide lens that has more depth
of field. By easier shots, I mean you are never dealing with things like
macro shots, or telephoto shots, so there is a lot less to go wrong, so you
get 38 or 39 good slides from each roll, with very seldom a bad one.
But the RC is very good. It doesn't have just my defence. You can read about
it on other sites as well. The RC is certainly better than the XA I had. And
is much nicer to use. But the XA I had did have some problems, so I sold it,
and am looking for another, just because it is so pocketable and unique.
Anyways, it's a personal opinion, not meant to start an argument :-) :-)
