One of the first thoughts that came to mind: I gotta get in here with a
camera! Seems I have a roll to finish up still in the XA... that would be a
nice little unobtrusive camera to take in there (it's tight in places). And
I might be able to gather my wits enough to operate that. An OM would be too
much for me operate properly in there, at least for another visit or two. I
don't get excited like that very often any more.

Friendly, enthusiastic volunteers. Excitement and love for hydros was
apparent. This sport is filled with some real characters, not unlike NASCAR.

I'm getting on their mailing list, so I will be informed of events (like
their running of 3 boats yesterday) ahead of time. Might be able to get some
on-the-water shots, and maybe even win a ride (they raffle them)!

Here's the Griffon Budweiser site. This boat is about to get her topsides
painted, and that big Budweiser red Griffon re-installed. As I was standing
there with my mouth open yesterday, two fellas were talking over the wiring
schematic while another polished up the engine bay. She's CLOSE. She'll be
running again SOON. This is such a ghost boat. Dean Chenowith was thrown
out of this boat at least twice I believe, before his 3rd and fatal flip:

The Museum's site is kinda sorry and could use a photo gallery (who, ME?).
But it's a start:

(Get down there, Jim! You'll DIG it! Nothing is roped off -- these are the
"early" days -- you can touch everything, smell the the fuel, the oil... it's
a rush! And it's free!)

Rich

P.S. Sorry to those who don't know hydros... it's a disease around here,
much like Zuikoholism. With Boeing, boat builders, and a big lake, Seattle
was MADE for boat racing.
