I have seen an advertisement (on the net) for a device which does
something like that.  The idea is that you have multiple flash units,
and the device connects the synch from the camera to the next flash
immediately after the first one fires, and eventually it cycles through
all the flash units back to the first.  This allows you to fire the
flash as fast as you can cycle the camera in short bursts.  If you had
25 flash units you could run it continuously at 5fps, assuming a 5 sec
recycle time.
