Just picked up a 50mm 3.5 macro from that huge auction place. (<a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1377753959";> Olympus Zuiko 50mm/3.5 - Spare Parts</a>) As the auction stated, It has a ding on one side of the filter ring, and a scratch on the outer lens. It also has a bind in the focusing mechanism just before getting to the closest setting. Then I looked inside. This lens was evidently kept in a camera bag with disintegrating foam. There were all sorts of little bits of greasy foam scattered through the interior. I took the back off tonight, and cleaned out what I could, but it should get a professional cleaning one of these days. A couple of foam bits have migrated in between some lens elements, and I am not interested in re-colimating lenses. Oh yes- the little spring in the back of the lens that helps re-open the aperture was loose and flopping around inside the lens. It's cleaned up and reattached now.

I did put it on a camera and try it. I don't have the shots back yet, but I could not see any evidence of the scratch or foam chunks. So, for about $25 including shipping, and a little work, is this a fang?

Thanks, Steve Goss, Dallas Tx usa
