If I recall correctly, this is a varifocal lens, not a zoom. You have to
refocus when you change the focal length.

The advantage of varifocal design is that the lens can be of better quality
for a given degree of optical complexity, or less complex for a given
quality level. I don't know which this lens is; I hope the former.

Series 1 lenses are certainly collectable. But from a practical point of
view, 35mm isn't very wide, and 85mm isn't very long. The f2.8 speed is
nice, but any IS-series ZLR offers a wider range of focal lengths.

Unless you want to add this lens to your collection just for the heck of it
(not a bad idea -- I'd like one myself!), I'd say "no."
