One solution would be a piece of metal with countersunk holes over 2 of the other holes in the lens, to mount it to the lens, and a hole at your perfect balance point threaded for the tripod. The US 'standard' tripod thread in the is 1/4-20. If your tripod or monopod has an option for the heavier duty (European std) size of 3/8-16, you could tap and thread the adapter for that for a more secure and durable attachment.
