The sort of work being done by restorers is simply amazing.  I visited
the Royal Air Force museum at Duxford, Cambridge, UK last year (very
highly recommended) and saw not only "new" British WW2 aero engines
being built but also US ones. Lots of new looking Pratt and Whitney
bits were waiting to be assembled into engines! The craftsmanship of
these people is a joy to see.

I'll possibly turn one or two RR Merlin lovers a little green by
saying I spent quite a few hours sitting behind these things back in
the 50's!
