The problem with chroma at the edges is due to poor lens design, the E-10
also suffer that, it claimed to have light beam that hit the CCD
perpendicularly. As Winsor mentioned, the X3 chip could be even poor with
normal lens but if they use special lens design that like what Olympus claim
it should be fine. But based on the current performance of single layer CCD
I don't think I need a X3 unless the price can be made similar to the single
layer one.

This review of the E20 indicates that color fringing is a little worse than on the E10. The example shown, however, is not at the edge of the picture. It appears to be some sort of "pixel bloom" sometimes seen on scanners and seems to be a common digicam artifact.
