For most uses, in my opinion, there's little advantage in the extra 0.4 stop
speed difference between the Zuiko 50/1.4 and the 50/1.8.
Knowing what I do now, if I were looking to buy a Zuiko 50 and didn't want to
go to the extra expense of buying a f/3.5 macro, I'd look for a good Zuiko
50/1.8 with the exact words "Made in Japan" on the front ring. And get a
rubber lens-hood for it - and use it.
