I think it is a common problem for many DC manufacturer, they are too hurry
to send the product to market. Didn't like twenty years ago they have lots
of time to do the preparation before putting into production. At the
beginning of the D30 delivery, I have seen many problem reported on
rec.photo.digital. I also heard the recent NK 5000 has many failure return
for repair. Just went to NK service center today to pick up my after repair
LS4000ED (due to some accident happen to it, you never know the firewire can
be forced to plug in the wrong direction on the card end). There were two
people sending the NK 5000 DC to repair.

I have seen one more interesting thing, a guy was bring his D100 there for
dust removal, I asked him why he didn't blow away the dust himself. He said
it is impossible, it will just introduce more dust, he need to bring his
camera there twice a year. He said he has to avoid replacing lens on the
field, so end up he can only have a fixed zoom on the camera.
