Reality is, for the 35mm focal length on good film, the Epic probably can
get a better large enlarged print than the C-4040. But, the C-4040 lens is a
zoom and is faster at f1.8 vs. f2.8. The 4.1mp files will deliver very nice
large prints from the internet labs I use.

Speaking of the kind of quality you can get from a C4040Z, note the
statement from John Knaur, Senior Product Manager for Olymopus, in
the interview (cited previously on the list with reference to the
"longevity" of the E20 line) in the "A-Digital-Eye" (bolded emphasis
added by me):

"Q. Does the 4/3 standard have a limit to the minimum & maximum
range of size a photo sensor can be?
A. Future tech question are great, we get them wrong more often then
right as seen by the "future tech" video runs on Discovery and other
shows that show what was projected for the year 2000, from 50 years
ago. Things went in different ways as often they do. My best guess,
if we created a FourThirds imager with the same pixel density of the
E-20N we could realize a much higher Megapixel imager with equal to
or better in response to the current sensor in the E-20N. If we based

True photo quality 20 X 24" prints from pros using a
C4040Z.....doesn't surprise me one bit. I recently saw a print of an
African tribesman in Reeds Camera in Walnut Creek, CA taken with a 4
megapixel E10 that was LARGER than a 20 X 24 and the sharpness and
detail in that print you would have to see to believe...
