We often just melt small screws into the plastic to hold the blade
spring down, then cover with JB Weld or epoxy.  I've still got a couple
of the original plastic inserts, but don't bother unless absolutely
necessary -- there's a number of tiny bearings between the aperture and
index rings that are the devil to put back!
