The 3-screw mounts are always OK.

Re the 4-screw mounts, I have another bit of bad news; I have found that
one of my 'OL' mounts has the badly placed screw. So you need to check 'OL'
mounts too. Looking at the back of the lens/adapter, the good 'OL' mounts
have two screws placed at 8 o'clock and 4 o'clock. The bad 4-screw mounts
have the two screws at 8 o'clock and (nearly) 3 o'clock; you can clearly
see that the bad (3 o'clock) screw is further from the screw at 6 o'clock
than the screw at 8 o'clock.

Fill the 3 o'clock screw hole as suggested by Brian Swale.

Sorry, but I'm now confused.

I have a Tamron 500 mirror with a 4 screw mount simply showing OL Japan.
I've never had problems with this (over 15 years) and the black thingamebob
is still pointy..

Two weeks ago I bought a Tamron 35-80 Macro, 3 screw mount with Tamron for
Olympus Om written on it. I ran a film through with this and had a LOT of
underexposure problems when it came back...

I've an old OM4 but looking carefully I can't see how the screws on either
mount can interfere with the black plastic thingamebob...

Regards
Ian
