Mark, C.H.L., thanks for very useful suggestion and relevant comment on lack of 'B' setting to enable keeping shutter open while I use Mark's focusing screen method. I'm sure I'll figure something out along these lines. Unlikely, but perhaps there's a way of removing the shutter housing while retaining and attacking the focus adjustment using the focus screen, then slot the shutter housing back in once the lens adjustment has been marked.

The problem is Trip 35 has no B mode, I'm also interested to know how to
make the shutter open for a long time, I have two Trip 35 waiting for
repair.
