The New Zealanders like people to come visit but do not want people to move
there. They've seen what has happened to other beautiful places when the
affluent from other countries move in and take over. If you want to live
there you better have a skill they really need. /jim

New Zealand is a magical place, IMO. I was there for a while in '98 and
came away loving it. There are tourists in places like Wellington
(which reminds me a lot of the bay area without the traffic and
overdevelopment) and Auckland, but it's a really sparsely populated
nation and if you're looking for natural beauty it's everywhere. I've
really considered living there.
