Several have commented that it can impact exposure in cameras that have beam 
splitters in the metering path, such as the OM-4(t).

However, with a bit of discipline, one can easily avoid such exposure errors.

1) point the camera at a well-lit, white surface.
2) rotate the polarizer until the meter reading dips.

Note where the mark on the polarizer points. Avoid that position!
