[OM] Using flash - HELP!

Subject: [OM] Using flash - HELP!

I have little to no use for flash for my normal pictures but on a postal
course I'm doing I need to take a few pictures as follows:

1...... subject lit by strong side light giving strong highlights and deep
shadows
2...... add fill flash to 50% brighten the dark areas
3...... add more flash to balance light across the highlights and shadows
4...... as 3 but achieve a dark background

I've only ever used flash in full auto so.....

I have both a T32 and T20, a BG2 and cables to connect everything. I'll
probably use a 100/2.8. Given that we are in mid winter here I'll probably
need to use one gun on the BG2 and the other off at the side to give the
intitial side light.

Does anybody have any suggestions on this? Ideally I'd like a simple setup
to achieve all 4 pics in full auto (OM4) - maybe just moving the side gun
further / nearer the subject? I don't mind buying a bit more kit (as if I
need an excuse) if this gets toward a small work area for closeups. I have
very limited floor space to use.

To prove to my tutor that I've done this correctly I'm to use slide film -
I'd normally use negative, scan and fiddle the file with software - so any
suggestions here?

thanks
Ian
