Welcome. Happy to hear that you enjoy it.

If you end up in a decent hotel with a non-computerized mini-bar,
stuff your films in there and explain to the front desk why they are
there. Will keep them nice and cold.

If I am in urbanized, yet warm and humid, areas I carry a pile of
silica gel bags in my camera bag (one per compartment, or so -
roughly one per lens/body). Each night when I return to the hotel, I
crank up the airconditioning (I need the cool-down anyways), take all
equipment out of the bag, dismount filters and covers and put on the
table for a few hours. Airconditioners make the air dry, which helps
remove water vapor.

Last august I was in Japan. When walking downtown Tokyo, the
transition from "indoor with heavy air conditioning" to "humid warm
outdoor" and back ensured that most of my lenses fogged between the
UV filter and the front element. Hence, the habit of taking out the
gear at night to have the dry air from the air-cond dry it out.

If I do not get to go back to an air conditioned hotel each night,
less gear, ziplock-bags (or a watercase:
http://www.flightcases.dk/watercases/watercases_index.htm) and
excessive amounts of silica gel is the way to go: at the end of each
day, the gear goes into a ziplock bag / watercase with a ton of dry
silica gel, and gets closed up for the night.

I would NOT go through the troubles and risks of buying films over
the bay. Firstly, films are not so expensive that there would be a
whole lot to save. Secondly, films from the 'bay are likely to have
been subject to inconsistant storage condtions (e.g. while being
mailed to you).

Actually, I would reccomend that you buy your films when you arrive
in Singapore and - if possible - also process the slides before
leaving. Despite claims from the airports, xraying films is not 100%
safe....

Enjoy your trip - and show us the slides when you come back
