While we are talking about tripods i have a question. I have a
surveyor's tripod with standard 5/8 x 11 threads. Is there an adapter
plate to convert for a camera? These tripods are very stout and heavy
and cheap compared to an equivalent photo tripod. If you wanted to mount
that big glass on a very stable platform close to the car (or SUV :>)
and wanted to do it for under US$100 this would be the way to go. I was
thinking of making something myself or having a machine shop make a
simple fitting. Can't be very complicated or am I missing something?
