What fun Ken!

Soon after I bought my ML270 we were touring the Eiffel in Germany in
the snow (but with boringly treated roads) when I saw a farm track,
covered in snow off to the side. It was wonderful leaving the road
and the noise of traffic and quietly (my diesel is quiet, honest -
the tyres make more noise on roads than the engine) exploring the
snow fields.

Saw a big deer, communed with God and nature....

Ah! The sweet sound of SUV wars on the list. Bear with us
folks--it'll eventually die down again.

Now for my input: We bought a hybrid type of SUV/Minivan: 4WD
MPV. Love it for the space, traction in wintertime (we finally
got an inch of snow here) and general comfort. Hate it for the
build-quality and lack of industrial strengthness. It just
passed 100,000 miles the other day. Wife's ready to trade it
in. On what, you ask? Another RED Jeep Cherokee. We'd be the
laughingstock of the neighborhood. After all, we joked about
our neighbors that have identical his and her maroon Plymouth
Voyagers.

Of course, it means that my RED Jeep Cherokee would remain a
Zuiko carrier. :)

Now onto the subject of icy roads. It really got nasty here the
other night. We didn't get much snow, but the roads built up a
1-2 inch layer of ice. The Cherokee got around extremely well.
So well that I'm downright gleeful! Unlike the front-wheel
drive wonder-buckets with auntilock breaks, this thing turned
corners slowing or accelerating (FWD cars go straight forward
into oncoming traffic or downhill when wheel-spinning), had
extremely predictable stopping and never gave me a bit of
problem on the ice.
